Eugenics

Who- hitler, other people who used misused early studies of genetics 
What- Eugenics is when a society or group of people control the genes that are allowed to be passed on to the next generation be sterilizing those who are considered to have inferior genes.
When- 1900's
Where- this happened in nazi Germany when hitter tried to exterminate all Jewish people because he believed they were inferior to his superior race. It also happened in America in the 1930's when 25,000 people where sterilized due to them having mental illness.
Why- this happened because of a misinterpretation of how people gain their traits by assuming that everything about you is genetic.

Common Core

Who- Students
What- Common Core
Where- schools
Why- The cons of common core are; it cost school money to update technology to be accommodate common core, common core also leads to high stake tests due to the standardization which allows all students to be directly compared, Also there is no common core for science and social studies which mean that states have to create their own standards for these.
When- 21st century

Frederick Douglass

Who: Frederick Douglass was a former slave who fought for the abolishment of slavery
When: In 1851 The Frederick Douglass paper was created and ran for 9 years, in 1848 He attented the Seneca falls convention and agreed with the resolution to ask for woman's suffrage
What: He was a major advocate for the aboliment of slavery and for the rights of women and black people. He also was one of the most powerful black men during this time, with the support of many behind him including the president.
Where: Frederick Douglass was born in Talbot County, Maryland
Why: He is important because of the advances in black rights and woman's rights that he created and because of his work to end slavery
